Our experts addresses several questions including:

  • What is a clinical trial?
  • How do I find a clinical trial?
  • Will my oncologist have access to a clinical trial?
  • Who responsible for a clinical trial and who pays for it?
  • Who protects my rights in a clinical trial?  How do I know what tests and procedures will be done on me during a clinical trial?  What are my commitments to the trial?
  • How do I know if the trial is safe?  What are the potential benefits?
  • How long does it take for a new drug to get on the market and what is the cost?

Highlight on 2026 Patient Advocate Award Winner Alexis Daniels

As we conclude our celebration of the 2026 Cancer Services Patient Advocate Award recipients, we are proud to recognize Alexis Daniels, Co-Leader of HEAL, Cancer Services’ African American Cancer Support Group.

A dedicated community volunteer and cancer survivor, Alexis has been part of the HEAL group since its inception in September 2023. Because she has walked the cancer journey herself, she offers understanding, encouragement, and hope to others facing similar challenges.

Whether she’s providing a compassionate ear or connecting members with valuable resources, Alexis helps ensure no one has to face cancer alone.

As Maria Combs, Manager of Cancer Screening Navigation at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center, shared: “Her dedication and heartfelt support have made such a difference for so many.”

💙 Thank you, Alexis, for your compassion, advocacy, and commitment to empowering fellow survivors. Your impact on our community is truly inspiring.
