What is ‘Forest Bathing’ and how can it benefit me?

Have you heard of Forest Bathing? No, it’s not taking a bath in the woods! Forest Bathing is kind of like nature therapy! It was developed in Japan as a tool to decrease stress and enhance overall wellness.

Join us on June 2nd from 12noon – 1:30 as a certified forest bathing instructor from Sawtooth School for Visual Art guides us at Reynolda Gardens!

I think many of us can understand the feeling of calm when we go for a walk in the woods, hike our favorite trail or even just enjoy the beauty around us in our own yards or neighborhood parks.

This article from Kaiser Heath gives a good overview of what Forest Bathing is and how it can benefit you.

We are lucky to live in such a beautiful area with lots of parks and green places!

We invite you to join us for this relaxing and informative session. Our goals are simple:

  • Create a “practice guide” for your healing time in nature
  • Practice slowing down and paying attention to surroundings by incorporating nature sketching
  • Check in with your feelings and notice how being in nature affects your mood

We hope you leave our session with the tools to practice this skill wherever you find nature! All participants will receive their own sketchbooks and learn nature drawing techniques, thanks to Sawtooth!

If you’re not able to make it, but would like the chance to talk with us about what was shared and how you can implement this practice on your own, just email or call Julie Lanford at 336-760-9983 and she is happy to talk with you!
