A Legacy of Generosity: Honoring Anthony Keesee’s Incredible Gift
Cancer Services recently received two extraordinary gifts from a local cancer patient, Anthony Keesee, who bravely battled metastatic prostate cancer. In his legacy, Anthony generously donated a substantial financial contribution and a cherished Classic 1957 Ford Thunderbird, a treasured heirloom in his family for years. Partnering with GAA Classic Car Auction in Greensboro, Cancer Services was honored as the Charity Car for their July Auction. Together, these gifts totaled over $60,000 in support.
This remarkable generosity exemplifies how thoughtful estate planning can profoundly impact our community, leaving a lasting legacy of compassion and support.

Fun at the Greek Festival
Thank you to our 54 dedicated volunteers representing Cancer Services who manned the admissions gates at the 2025 Greek Festival sponsored by Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. It was a wonderful weekend celebrating Greek culture and community ~ and we were so honored to be selected for a portion of the proceeds this year to benefit Cancer Services. A big shoutout to our student volunteers from Reagan and Reynolds High School, and Wake Forest University Public Health AmeriCorps.
It’s a Wrap!
We are delighted to announce the tremendous success of our “Wrapped Up in Ribbons” 2025 event, marking Cancer Services’ 70th anniversary at The Intergenerational Center for Arts & Wellness in Winston-Salem. The evening was filled with warmth, an energetic live auction, and a captivating art project presented by Sawtooth School for Visual Art in honor of our anniversary. Thanks to your incredible support, Wrapped Up in Ribbons exceeded expectations by raising over $240,000! These funds will directly benefit cancer patients and their families in our community, providing essential financial, physical, and emotional support throughout their journey. .

The Healing Power of Art & Friendship
Carol and Betsy
Carol has been a dedicated participant in our wellness and nutrition programming since 2008. She is a regular at our Art & Wellness group. Carol has found a creative outlet and support through these programs. When her neighbor and close friend, Betsy, was diagnosed with breast cancer, Carol encouraged her to join our Art & Wellness group as well.
Now, they share a special bond as they bring their art kits to each other’s homes and attend virtual art classes together. This connection has not only supported Carol’s own wellness journey but has also provided Betsy with a source of comfort and community during her cancer treatment.
Their story is a beautiful reminder that healing comes not only from treatment but also from creativity, connection, and the unwavering support of a friend. Carol and Betsy continue to uplift each other, proving that no one has to face the journey alone.

Finding Strength Through Support
Malinda’s Journey
Malinda first connected with one of our patient advocates after one of her oncology appointments, which sparked her interest in our programs. She soon began attending the blood cancer support group, where she found a supportive community.
Malinda also took full advantage of our nutrition programming, participating in cooking classes and webinars to learn more about managing her health through diet and lifestyle.
Through these initiatives, she has not only gained valuable knowledge but also found a supportive community that empowers her to focus on her health and well-being.
