Highlight on Hirsch Wellness Network!

A silver lining to the current crisis is that there are many opportunities to participate in programs online that previously were only offered in a physical building.
This week, Julie spoke with Louise Grape, the Founder and President of Hirsch Wellness Network, in Greensboro. Hirsch was founded in 2008 and offers cancer patients/survivors/caregivers a variety of wellness programs and they are currently all offered online!
Hirsch would be happy to have Cancer Services clients join in on their classes and there are many to choose from next week! All are free of charge!

Cancer Services Programs Later This Month!

Here are the programs we have coming up in the rest of May:
- Monday, May 11th at 5pm: Chair Yoga for Cancer Patients/Survivors with Valerie Kiser, owner of Sunrise Yoga in Clemmons
- Tuesday, May 12th at 6pm: GI Cancer Wellness Group
For gastrointestinal cancer patients/survivors/caregivers to enjoy education and social time while supporting each other emotionally. Diagnoses includes colon, rectal, pancreatic, liver and gallbladder. - Wednesday, May 13th at 12noon: Surviving Lung Cancer Wellness Group
For lung cancer patients/survivors/caregivers to enjoy education and social time while supporting each other emotionally. - Thursday, May 14th at 2pm: Horticulturist Guided Potting Workshop.
The Forsyth County Cooperative Extension Horticulturists, Leslie Peck and Mary Jac Brennen, will be live to show you how to plant herbs in a pot for your porch, patio, balcony or sunny window sill! Julie will also lend tips on cooking with herbs and the nutritional value that it provides. Herb plants will be available for pick up at Cancer Services prior to the workshop!
- Thursday, May 21st at 12noon: Breast Cancer Wellness Group
For breast cancer patients/survivors to enjoy education and social time while supporting each other emotionally.
- Thursday, May 21st at 8pm: Nutrition Q&A with Julie Lanford, “The Cancer Dietitian”.

- Wednesday, May 27th at 6pm: Blood Cancer Wellness Group!
For blood cancer patients/survivors/caregivers to enjoy education and social time while supporting each other emotionally. Includes diagnoses of leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
- Thursday, May 28th at 2pm: Nature Scavenger Hunt and Stump the Horticulturist!
Appreciate the wonder of nature and join us as Forsyth County Cooperative Extension Horticulturists Leslie Peck and Mary Jac Brennen discuss plants you might find as you wander through your yard, neighborhood or local park. We will ask you to go on a “scavenger hunt” for nature items before our session. Bring your items to our online group and we’ll see if the horticulturists can identify them!
Julie was interviewed for Northwest Area Health Education Center regarding emotional eating and mindful eating.
